The terms on which this site is provided: content licence, accuracy, advertising, liability and governing law.

Acceptance

By using this site you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, the remedy is to stop using the site, which costs you nothing — every page here is readable without an account and without paying.

The content, and what you may do with it

The text, the drawings and the recipe tables on this site are the copyright of the workshop that publishes them. You may read them, print them for your own use in your own workshop, and reproduce an entry for non-commercial teaching with a credit and a link back to the page it came from.

You may not republish an entry in whole or in substantial part, translate it, feed it to a service that republishes it, or use it in a commercial product without written permission. Ask first; the answer is often yes.

No professional advice

Nothing on this site is professional advice. Firing schedules, glaze recipes and material notes are records of what worked in one workshop with one kiln, and they are published for information.

Pottery involves real hazards: kilns reaching 1300 °C, open flames in raku firing, silica dust, and glazes containing materials that are toxic in the raw state. You are responsible for ventilation, respiratory protection, safe electrical work and the correct handling of every material you use. If you are not sure whether something is safe, stop and find out before you do it.

Accuracy and availability

The site is provided as it is. We try to keep entries correct and to correct them when they are not, but no warranty is given that any page is accurate, complete or suitable for your clay, your kiln or your purposes.

The site is a set of static files and is normally available, but it may be unavailable during maintenance or because of a fault outside our control. No service level is offered and none should be assumed.

Advertising and third-party links

This site carries advertising served by Google AdSense and may link to third-party sites. We do not control the content of those advertisements or those sites and are not responsible for them. A link is not an endorsement, and the appearance of an advertisement on a page is not a recommendation of the product.

The privacy policy describes the cookies that advertising partners set and how to opt out of them.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operator of this site is not liable for any loss or damage arising from the use of, or inability to use, this site or from reliance on anything published on it — including loss of materials, loss of a kiln load, or damage to equipment. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the site operator is established, and any dispute is subject to the courts of that jurisdiction. Where you are a consumer resident elsewhere, this does not remove the protection of the mandatory consumer law of your own country.

Changes

These terms may change. The version published on this page at the time you use the site is the version that applies, and the date at the foot of the page shows when it last changed.
